Description

The Honourable Senator Murray Sinclair, Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, reflects on the history of Aboriginal rights in Canada. After decades of marginalisation, Aboriginal communities suffer from high levels of poverty, lower life expectancy and an alarming suicide rate. Senator Sinclair, the first Aboriginal judge appointed in Manitoba, shares his lessons on renewing and restoring pride in Aboriginal cultures across the globe.

The 'Aboriginal Canada: The Peace & Reconciliation Process' Special Session took place at the 2016 One Young World Summit, the world's premier forum for young leaders, in Ottawa, Canada. The Summit brought together 1,300 delegates from all 196 UN-recognised countries, empowering them to make lasting connections to create positive change.
